Good luck tc my friend, one of my Vietnam-era friends had both knees replaced a couple of years ago. It all worked out well for him and he’s pretty much back in form.

And congrats on retirement, I retired early 7 years ago and life is good. I miss the people and the intellectual challenge of what I did, but not the business environment. There’s a lot of advice about retirement but the only good advice I can give you is to get into a regular exercise routine - that’s important as we get older.

    Cheers, Steve

Thanks Steve. My old knees are Viet Nam era too plus a damn Airborne Ranger. But ya my knees will be fine my friend. I’m doing everything Mike told me and Tom did too everything ahead of time as much as possible. Flexability. Strength. Weight loss. I feel better already. But steps are still my enemy. As to retiring. I did that 3-4 years ago. But couldn’t stay away I do need something to do but I think a forge room in my new shop will help

That’s the secret to retiring successfully. Don’t just stop doing something. Find something you love doing and enjoy your time doing it.

Okay, I was tired of talking about it. I just pulled the trigger on a jar of MDC Vetiver that I can't wait to try-I'll report back.

No, he usually uses either the tube of Proraso or Godrej Menthol Mist I got him (both great menthol creams), or else (sadly), the dollar a tube blue gel from the grocery store in the shower (which actually gives a pretty good DE shave in a pinch). Not to mention he now has kind of an Abe Lincoln-type beard going, so getting him to shave these days is a challenge.

TC, should I assume that you have or have tried the MDC Vetiver? Do you need a sample? Let me know.

You may find this freaky. But no I have not tryed the vetiver. And I would like to try it. Unlike some of these clowns I don’t mind s 60$ soap. Just means it 10 times better than a 6$ garage bucket of suds

Tc I gotta politely disagree with you, my Palmolive shave stick cost like $4 and I get the same quality lather I would get from any of the other soaps I currently have. Though nice things usually cost $$$, I have not found that more expensive soaps perform better than cheaper ones.

I'm always looking for a nice vegetarian-friendly (i.e., non-tallow) soap. Generally I stick with the Pre de Provance or L'Occitane stuff but was close to starting a threat something along the line of "what should my next shave soap be?" Martin de Candre is one I've never tried and I think after reading this thread I may give it a go.
