However they do make outstanding soaps the right way, something I strongly encourage and admire.

Sort of the same story with Castle Forbes, I only tried the cream, many love it, but I didn't find it anything spectacular.

I CBA to look up the ingredients, but that's probably going to be reason why I like and dislike soaps. MWF does it for me.
Again, it's all subjective and you won't know until you try. To each their own, luckily!

I've found MWF to be a pain to lather. Love the smell it just takes forever to make a decent lather for me. I really do think it comes down to types of water.

However I've been using the original Mitchell's Wool Fat bar soap for a week now and must say its very nice. I have sensitive skin so the Lanolin in it makes my skin feel great.

I look at costs too, MDC doesn’t cost any more, 3 light swirls in the jar and enough to go for 3 passes, I’m getting more than a year now, versus before I Changed getting just a few months 6 maybe, but everyone if different, I’ll spend 80k on a truck where most wouldn’t even think about half that, go figure. And a custom razor doesn’t even make me think I’ve spent to much. I’m Irish and cheap, but I have no problem paying for quality, I don’t use cheap toilet paper either

    Gentlemen,

Yes, yes, of course, it's what works best for the individual shaver. We set our criteria in judging shaving soaps and creams according to our beliefs and preferences.

And what fits in one's comfort zone, I might add. I have ultra sensitive skin and there is a lot that I can't use, even though I may like some parts of it. I like the scent of Lavanda, and it lathers well, but the mediocre post shave feel knocks off a few notches from the cream — for me, anyway.

I love the scent and lathering of Tabac, but the post shave feel is not as comfortable as I want. Mitchell's Wool Fat lathers well for me, even though I find the lather's texture thinner than I like. And I like the soap's scent. Yet, I find Mitchell's Wool Fat unexciting.

For me, the effective difference between Lavanda and Martin de Candre is more than the noted 5%. I get far more enjoyment and better performance from Martin de Candre and I do Lavanda. The percentage, if I could figure it out, since I am lousy at math, is of little consequence.

And so it is. I use what I like regardless of price. If I don't have the funds for it, then I wait and buy it when I do.

By all means everyone should use what best fits their "needs" in skin care. If the only product that will satisfy those needs is expensive so be it. OTH, for those that have no special skin care needs, normal skin if you wish, there are a variety of soaps/creams that will do very well at a substantial savings. If you can't notice a substantial difference between two products then you do have the option to pay less.

None of the above means anything if you have the means to buy what you want when you want without a worry to cost. Obviously that is fair too.

Over here in blind food tests budget supermarkets Lidl and Aldi often beat premium M&S and Waitrose for quality and taste. There's also a £10 bottle of Champagne that one of them do that hands down beats Moet and the like.
Saying that I do love MDC and CF.

    Sorry

Yea, you don't always get what you think you are paying for but sometimes you do. Makes life interesting.

The only soaps I didn't like were very menthol. And that's only because it irritates my skin. From $2 Williams to $74 aqua de parma. They all work. And as was said use whatever you like. It is your money after all. The only time I get slightly annoyed is when people say you HAVE to use a certain type of soap to get a great shave. For the heck of it I bought dollar store 2 for $1 dial hand soap. And lathered it and nice shave! But that's me.

I am an avid tea drinker. My brother asked me once what's the best tea to drink. I told him the one you like. Like it because you like it and for the reasons you like it. Different people like different things and what you like may change over time but let it be for your reasons and in your time. Don't let anyone tell you what you are supposed to like. Also, just because it's cheap that doesn't mean it's bad. Just because it's expensive that doesn't mean it's good.
