I got mine at Connaught Shaving in England. It was a fantastic price even including shipping (I git it with the ceramic bowl), picked up a bowl of Harris while I was at it....

From the point of view of shaving performance, exactly the same (ie excellent). The scent is a little lighter, more top notes, fewer bottom ones, less cloying but nonetheless Old school. It's meant to mimic the smell of an Irish Spring but this is, IMO, a little fanciful (though never having been there I'd have to reserve judgement, I suppose). The only possible disadvantage that I see is it that it only comes in sticks and so has to be grated into a container if you want a puck but that's simple enough.

Thanks Alan! Your description makes little sense to me, but raises enough interest to trigger my soap purchasing disorder (albeit not so bad (or should I say good? ) as Mike's ).

Thanks Seraphim and VeeDubb for the Wool Fat links!

I've been in love with the Tabac scent since I purchased my first one. I even ended up with a bottle of the cologne.

I just got my first bottle of Bay Rum (Clubman) with the same shipment of my first puck of Tabac, and while it doesn't smell like I thought it would I still find it pleasant enough and it seems to be growing on me. I'm liking it.

As for Tabac, I've had many shaves with it now and the scent never seems to get old for me. It is fast becoming one of my favorite soaps.

I tell you guys, I was VERY leary about trying Tabac after seeing some of the posts hear. I'm not fond of tossing my cookies at any time, let alone when I'm shaving. But I tried it, and I must say, I really like it! The smell is quite unique. It's sweet, and leathery but for some reason, I get the picture of a freshly mowed field of hay. And the performance was fantastic! I'm a Ogallala Bay Rum fan, but Tabac is in a class by itself. I also am getting some Mitchells Wool Fat. Hope it is as good as the Tabac!

Default I love the smell of Tabac in the evening.....

I love Tabac. It reminds me of clubing in the 70 and 80s.

In another post Loudee refered to the scent of Tabac thusly:

"Tabac works because it doesn't just smell cheap and fake, it smells cheap, fake and slutty."

Which I can't really argue with. As a matter of fact, if I may be so bold, I think the aroma of Tabac is best summed up thusly:

    Tabac has charasma!
