I've never had the pleasure of Tabac, but I'm a tried and true Speick man! I have everything Speick, even the bathbars. I love the scent... woodsy and light. The lather is very very slick feeling.

    Cheers

Tabac was the soap that broke my seal, as it were. Got me into this game full on. The smell is pretty nostalgic (even for a 26 year old) it just smells like an old barber shop, plus the lather is very forgiving and plentiful, even in the hard Las Vegas water. But I came to the horrifying conclusion that it made me break out.
Maybe I'll come back to it at a later date, who knows.
Someone suggested I try to get a puck of old spice.

I'm in the "love it" camp. Love the slick tallow-based lather, love the scent, love the nostalgia (it's old!). Even have the cologne.

Even those who hate it can't deny the fact that it's got one of the best lathers available.

I love Tabac, and use it often. Actually, I have just about all of their products

OK.....I was just passing thru on my way to the Vendor forum when I saw this thread. I've had several conversations in the past with Gentlemen who really talked about how much they loved Tabac.

So I really got a chuckle when reading the descriptions of scent from Gentlemen who don't care for it, aka....."Aqua Net hair spray" .....ewwwww.

And I'm once again totally intrigued by a scent that creates such a love/hate relationship. I think I'll have to order some for myself just so I can check it out.

    Thanks for the link.

Ok, guys and ladies. Here's my update on Tabac:

Firstly, I'm passing on the sample of Tabac cream given to me by Singlewedge. Colleen, it's going out to you tomorrow.

Before sending it off, I had to at least lather some up to see it in action. I used an old retired natural bristle Vulfix brush (sub par thing that shed like a beast in the tropics) so as not to taint my daily Tweezerman. Then, I of course had to at least do a partial shave, now didn't I?

It took longer to build lather than the other soap (Mama Bear) and cream (C.O. Bigelow aka Proraso) that I prefer, but.....very impressive lather. Kudos to Tabac in that department. But, you Tabac lovers already know that.

I only shaved both cheeks completely. In part because my skin is on the sensitive side and I didn't want at worst, to have a reaction to the cream. That was plenty to give me an idea how Tabac performs. You Tabac lovers are right on that account as well. Great slip/glide/cushion, whatever you like to call it. Superior.

I'll also say that maybe it's due to me being enveloped in a veritable cloud of Tabac vapor as I type this since the lather was applied within inches of my nose rather than it being on my hands as I previously posted in my initial test, but although the scent is strong, I don't have an urge to scrape it off my face with a cheese grater. And, my face is ultra smooth and soft now.

I don't know that I'd ever find Tabac in my rotation. However, I'm glad I was able to try it and, given it's obvious performance I can actually see now how at least one member has said that he uses it even though he gags his way through it. I see why now, he'd go through the trouble. Tabac lovers, you stay strong in all your Tabac glory! I kind of get it now.
