Let me first say I find the longevity of this thread to be quite unexpected. Having said that, I'll add my two cents to legthen it just a bit further. I used this soap for a week, exactly as I've used my other soaps with (not surprisingly) less than stellar results. Today, I added a dollop of glycering to the mix. Yes, it made a lather as opposed to quckly vanishing suds. I still would not place it in the category with SRD or GQ, but it was a big improvement. Now I think I'll just watch and see how much longer this thread can go before dying a natural death.

    Thumbs up

Well....I received my order of shaving soap yesterday and really like the scents and feel...that being said I used it last night and had a little trouble making a good whipped lather (using it as it comes from Soaptopia)...and had to reapply to the face several times during my shave (dries out quickly)...very lubricating though smooth glide with the Str8 very little pull. I would like to see alittle glycerin added to the mix as well to make a better lather. Over all I really love the soap and will use it in my rotation of soaps. (now if they would only make one with a Wintergreen scent)...

Thanks Soaptopia for a very nice product.

so i was just at soaptopia yesterday.. i was purchasing another wooden soap dish.. felix also said he was wanting a wintergreen.. so i can probably see that happening in the near future..

also.. as much as i'm always saying how i get great lather with my almond puck.. i can't get lather for anything with the rosewood.. it's driving me crazy.. although a half squirt of kmf would be a quick fix i've been playing with adding drops of glycerin and also with adding small dabs of pure shea butter both are producing differed results.. as much as we are all in search for the perfect shave.. i think i get the most enjoyment just playing with new ideas and trying to overcome small barriers.

I have the Rosewood and the Almond also and have found the same problem...great lather with the Almond and still working with the Rosewood. I bought a tube of shaving cream to see if that would help and I think I will have to experment with the amounts of cream to use to create a good lather. And...YES...I would love to get the Wintergreen Mint scent...Just let me know.

Are you wanting it to die? If so why?

i too am amazed at how long this thread has lasted... i originally just posted because i was interested in a company i had never heard of.. for some reason it's become an entire project.. i now have 4 different scents and some i get great lather with.. some not.. i'm having tons of fun with it though.. my d.r. harris and trumpers just sit there now.

    here's the rundown

almond: great thick cushy lather.. works fantastic by itself.. love the stuff..

eucalyptus: very nice and eucalyptusy.. lather starts to desolve a little bit on the face.. i have to beef it up with c.o. bigelow.

rosewood: can't create anything more than foam.. or if i go really light on the water.. all i make is thick dry paste..

clove: love the way it smells but the lather disolves a little faster than the eucalyptus.. i use half a squirt of patchouli kmf.. really goes well with the pinaud clubman bay rum..

overall i'm just having tons of fun playing with different mixtures and methods..

I wanted to say this is a bell for me, the detail and attention I have picked up in shaving have re-opened doors for me, I have a newly found re-interest in lockpicking (something I loved but had no time for), and my work seems more relaxed, im a programmer so make a living solving problems, and I find it easier as of recently.

We got our order about 1 1/2 weeks ago. I couldn't get much from the clove either, haven't tried the others yet. We got some body soap as well, but they forgot it so it shipped out after we called them. The body soap is extremely soft like the shave soap they smelled great, and left the skin soft after use. They were all very nice when we called, but when they were to call us back it never happened. Not a big deal though as they have been busy because of this thread. One thing is when I mixed the clove with Alraz's bomb it suppressed the bombs ability to hold a moist lather. I'll try other creams and report back.
