Monday is cream day and I have about 8 that I rotate through, and Saturday is for soap rotation. Sunday, Tuesday,Wednesday,Thursday, and Friday have a dedicated soap for each of those days.

I've bucked the trend of 'rotations'. Now I pick one and use it until it's gone.
I just broke through to the bottom of my puck of Arlington. After that it will probably be TOBS Avocado.
In 'storage' I have Coloniali Mango, TOBS Rose cream, Pre De Provance, Speik and probably 2 more that I can't remember.

I start with what aftershave I want to wear that day and then pick the soap or cream that I think will go best with the aftershave. I.E. Proraso soap and Aqua Velva. I need a larger selection as I only have 3 soaps and 2 creams. I use the Palmolive cream most because it is the most neutral that I have.

Thanked: 270Since I never got any enjoyment out of shaving until last year, this is a pleasant problem to have. I make the most out of the opportunity and look for that old-fashioned experience.
Half the time I want a utilitarian soap with an honest, clean smell for an old-time shave at home experience. Right now that is an Arko stick. The other half of the time I want something that will perk me up, which right now is Mama Bear's Sandalwood or Bay Rum, or an Irisch Moos shave stick for an old-time barbershop experience. Other times, especially summer, I want something with high menthol content.
I use soaps most of the time, but will use a cream if my skin is sensitive. I have come a long way as a straight shaver but there are still are days when I shave too hard and leave my face chapped.
I really had to experiment with a lot of shave equipment before I figured out what works for me. And I needed for my skills to develop before I could find the right blade. Based on what I've read, it took me a lot longer than most to get good at this. If I made myself stick with the first soap and razor I got until I "mastered" it, I might not have gotten the kind of results I get now. I learned that what works for some doesn't work for others. For instance, I can't get Mitchell's Wool Fat to work. Sometimes I give up during the shave and use another soap to finish up.

I survey the available creams, like a harem of women, and select the one that seems the most interesting.

For me, it just depends on what I feel like using that particular day. There's no reasoning for my choices, except for my P.160. Since it is no longer being made, I use it a lot less frequently than others.

Thanked: 191. Put the soaps / creams in a line on the counter (this is easy, I only have 4 brands of soap and 1 brand of cream).
2. Number the soaps/creams from left to right... -2, -1, 0, 1, 2
3. Go to my local mall with 5 frisbees and throw them to 5 random people.
4. Ask those 5 random people to throw the frisbees to 5 other random people.
5. Take the percentage of women who have frisbees in their hand and multiply by 3.14.
6. Whichever number that I have assigned the soaps to is CLOSEST to the answer to the math problem, I put that soap or cream back in the drawer.
7. I head back to the closest park to my house with 4 frisbees...
I repeat this process, going to different parks within a 5 mile radius until I am only down to 1 soap or cream. If I run out of parks, I hit shoe stores within a 5 mile radius.
I use the soap that I have selected the very next day... rinse / repeat.
The funny thing is that this TOTALLY RANDOM selection process has yielded the same results (soap -2) for 27 days straight!! I can't wait until I get to use the others.Last edited by Cage; 11-16-2011 at 02:48 AM.
