I'm also a basenoter (www.basenotes.net) but 'only' have circa 80 bottles of Eau de Toilette 100ml/200ml

Compared to the more extreme over there with 500+ bottles, I feel mediocre

Same here - the guys with big collections here probably have 50+ ShaveCreams and same with brushes and razors.

I still only have 2 Mühle Sophist Silvertip brushes and 2 Mühle Sophist DE razors.

Of course I'm joking a bit, and YES! I'm in denial !!

My plan is to stay around the 20-25 number of ShaveCreams since they officially don't stay fresh for more than 6-12 months but I intend to keep mine for a couple of years and then buy new ones of my favourite creams, as soon as the old ones get used up.

I like it in here and on basenotes.
Never thought shaving, fragrances and male grooming could be a hobby - 'guess I was wrong

CHSeifert, why haven't you bought any shaving soaps yet? For the ultimate lather for shaving, you need soaps too!

I avoid soaps because I always wash my face with Clinique mild facial soap before shaving, so using an extra soap will dry out my face.

I also have extreme hard water here, so getting a cream to lather is hard enough work already. Soaps take even more work to create the lather explosion

I also don't fancy the idea of using soaps AFTER I just showered, and I always shave after I have showered...

This is why I totally avoid soaps.
I know creams have much of the same ingredients in them as soaps, but there still is a difference.

That's a shame, you're missing out on some great stuff then! Btw, as you love AK1869, you should really try Cella, it more of a cream-like soap, so-called "soft soap", just a tad harder than the AK. Traditional Italian stuff at it's best.

I will try it for sure.
Just don't like having the feeling of needing to splash water on my face after the shave in order to remove soap residue and not just shaving cream

I know I miss out on creating super lather and other real nice soaps, but hey I do try to get the best creams.
Have a pending order for 1 Xpec unscented and 1 Xpec standard ShaveCream and may order a pot of Tabula Resa cream also - I'm going all out on creams.

Just dumped 2 Fitjars from my collection - CitrusKick irritates my skin because of the Black Pepper and Folgefonn dries out too fast.
She needs to redo some of the ingredients in her creams.
When and if she starts to get the quality control and ingredients perfect I might buy Fitjar creams again.
But they have a problem with drying out too fast, I have 4 Fitjar creams.

I don't have *that* many (yet), but I just go with what strikes my mood, or, if I decide to face lather, I grab a stick. Sometimes I pick a brush, then choose a soap/creme that I like to pair it with. *shrug*

I try to alternate creams and soaps, but not always. I usually just wind up grabbing one.
I strop my razor with my eyes closed.

I've not yet reached the stage I'd refer to as a disorder but I have a few and for me I try to kinda pick an over all theme or smell in the products I'm using pre, during, and post shave. I know there is very little if any scent left over from my choice of soap or cream but I don't want to go from say a menthol or eucalyptus smelling lather to a musky type balm and cologne.

Ever since I lost my sense of smell I just use what works the best,I haven't tried as many as some but I've used the usual,Williams,Col. Conk,AOS
and just ordered some from Mama Bear, even even the canned Edge isnt terrible, but not great. But I think I've mentioned a product called Cutemol here before and after shaving I use it religiously, this stuff is amazing,my friend turned me on to it after a bad sunburn. It was precribed for him for psoriasis but is not prescription and can be ordered by the pharmacist. It's not cheap at $25 for a large jar, but it lasts for a long long time, it may seem a little oily but that soaks in quickly and makes your skin as soft as a baby's, also it gets rid of any rash or irritation almost in front of your eyes it's worth a shot I never shave without it.

May I ask how you lost your sense of smell ?
