You guys sound like Errol Flynn in Montana. Sheep are nice; but not that nice. MWF is a nice winter soap but there are nicer and better for the hot weather.

Mitchell's Wool Fat definitely is a keeper for me too.

Gentlemen,
Mitchell's Wool Fat soap is a way of life. I have enough supply to last me several years. Then again, I might buy a few more pucks just in case civilization comes to ruin and I am the only wet shaving gentleman left on earth. It never hurts to be safe, what?

I have to agree about the bath and hand soap. It truly is good stuff. It never hurts to stock up I guess. I don't know what the shelf life is, but I've seen some really good soaps and creams go away over the years, Here's just a few.
QED Wild Rose
SRD Bulgarian Rose Otto
TGQ, (Colleen's soap)
Domenico Caraceni 1913
Xpec went away, and came back. It's an awesome cream.

I am awaiting my very first straight razor kit, a new dovo special 5/8 tortoise, badger brush, taylors sandalwood, proraso aftershave cream. I keep reading on this forum and others about MWF, I have yet to try a shaving soap but I will try to pick up a puck whenever I make a future order. So many interesting products out there!

I remember reading a thread where they talk about running the puck of MWF through a cheese grater and then stuff it back into your shaving mug. It keeps the puck from cracking and separating and it lathers up even better. Have not tried it yet,but maybe someone will chime in.

I have been using MWF for about a month and a half and I love it. Here in the southern part of Germany the water is on the hard side, but I get a decent lather from MWF, although the lather sometimes is not that rich; the lubrication is pretty good.
By the way: Do you have any advice concerning this? I got opposite advice (e.g. hot vs. only warm water)?

We have relatively soft water as far as I can tell. I use hot water when I lather. And plenty of it. I've heard stories about the water mineral content and temperature, but I swear I find it to be a fairly easy soap to lather with. I use a good Thater brush, work the lather up in the mug for a bit and then finish working the lather up on my face.
Bliss.
