All these guys are a little before my time, but what happened to men like this?
They're still around and they use a straight razor to shave. And they happen to be the members here.

I'll also endorse the Tabac shaving soap. Also I'll suggest Joris which is very hard to find. It's not flowery to me but definitely masculine in scent. These two soaps are among the very best shaving soaps made if not thee best IMHO. For the Joris you'll have to mail order it through Atkinsonsofvancouver.com as they are the North American supplier. You can't order it directly from their site. You actually have to spend a dime and call them. The soap is well worth it though as the lather is outstanding.

BTW, Frank Sinatra wore Lavender water all his life. Lavender is considered a classic male scent. But it is derived from flowers which is probably your contention. Anyway hope this helps.

    Regards,
    EL

OK and maybe a dab of Mel Gibson from the first two Mad Max movies ---- to give it a little edge, a little kick . Alright I'm going now but just to let you know:

"I am the Nightrider. I'm a fuel injected suicide machine. I am the rocker, I am the roller, I am the out-of-controller! "

Ok maybe not ---but anyhow ------the curtains close

Thanks to all the replies and I'll take a look into the suggestions -----bunch of good guys here.

Most of my contention comes from ignorance ---but I have to start somewhere. I'm still learning but I thought it would also be a good topic for a thread ---and have a little fun and share a little humor in the process.

    thanks for the soap suggestions,

    Justin

By contention I meant that flowery scents seem to trigger headaches for you, not that you have a superficial contention. I enjoyed your humor, I was poking fun back by mentioning Sinatra.

    Regards,
    EL

+1 also if you like Sandalwood, I like the C&E Sandalwood soap alot, it's a little drying but if you add enough water it shaves great.

I like the Tabac alot, I just got mine and find the scent of the soap very nice.

    Thumbs up

I use Colleen Hurley's "Leatherneck", exclusively. Tried her "Cavendish Black", but it just wasn't for me (so I'm giving it to my tattooist, who's a pipe smoker -- that's what buds are for, right?)

"Leatherneck" reminds me of that once-a-month saddle-soaping we'd give our Cochrans, and how -- when they were dry the next morning -- we'd sit around on our footlockers, turn the radio to something low and slow, and take our sweet time as we swapped lies, swatted flies, and spit-shined those boots for tomorrow's pay-day inspection.

It's still a Man's World... but where would we be without the "Colleens"? I'm back in the civilian world for 30 years, and "Leatherneck" calls-out to me as if I was still that 11C NCO.
You can have everything, and still not have enough.
I'd give it all up, for just a little more.

JB - that's an awesome description. I can't wait to get my sample. Hopefully, someday she'll turn it into a cologne.

Thanks, EL. I was just admitting I have plenty left to learn and was making fun of myself. "Ignorance is bliss", but I enjoy having people set me straight and I wouldn't blame you if you didn't appreciate my humor ---anyway, all is good, and thank you for the suggestions on soap.

P.S. After I made that post, I read it and realized it didn't come across as I intended. Linguistics can be limited especially without the benefits of facial expressions ----a wink or smile would of been nice --I need to start using those happy face dudes a little more. Avoir and good night.
