Thanked: 3Any of the lead stroppers still alive today???
I found this old thread about two weeks ago and thought: Let's give it a try. All I can say is: WOW!!! I find it unbelievable that using lead gets so much negative comment, while the amount we need for our purpose is next to nothing, especially when the blade is carefully cleaned before use. Thank you all very much for sharing this valuable info on the forum!!
Do you guys still use your leaded strops? Peter.

Yep. Some people do. It's a good way to "tame" an edge that has been overhoned and gotten prickly. I personally don't use one but I know some here do.

Thanked: 4826Yes. We just don’t talk about it anymore. It’s an argument inducing trigger word. Shshshshs

HAR! I still use it after honing. I also have found using a finely-sanded aluminum bar on leather works about same.
