I really like the horse hide that I got. It's a nice addition to my Tony Miller. Both are fast but the Bison is super fast. It's great for wedges that tend to grip my TM.

I'm trying to get an idea of what the horsehide strop would feel like. I like light draw, nothing heavy or sticky feeling. I've never tried a strop with no draw. I had an english bridle paddle strop that felt "glassy" that I didn't like the feel of. I like to hear that distinctive "swoosh" sound when stropping oppose to nothing at all, which the glassy feeling strop didn't make much noise at all.

I think my preference is to slightly softer pieces of leather. Is the horsehide by Bison hard or soft? I have a softer piece of horsehide from Scruppleworks and I really like the feel.

I don't know if the horse hide gives the audio qualities you desire. I have three stops. An SRD strop, a Tony Miller, and the bison. The TM is his fast bridle and probably my favorite. I suppose glassy is somewhat accurate to describe it. Very light draw bordering on none. The bison has even less draw, zero. Maybe Harrywally can do a better job describing the differences.

It's what you want, that's the only thing that matters. The strop will do the job if the user can. But if the sound is all your looking for just strop on linen. But to answer your question the Bison horse is very smooth, but can't swear to your needs of swoosh. Tc

The Bison Horse is definitely soft, but it is a very fast draw. It has a bit of that magnetic feel, but not too over powering. I'm not a fast stropper so the audible sound you're looking for, I can't comment on. Like TC said, It's what you want. If you like a quicker draw, this is the strop for you. I've had 3 other strops, a waxy english bridle that was ok, a vintage leather that was a heavier draw, and a vintage shell that was more glass like.

The Bison IMO has the perfect amount of grabbiness (if that's a word) and the perfect amount of feel.

Just thought I'd make a post. I purchased a 3 inch English Bridle strop when it was 50% off. When I received it the linen side had a noticeable bend in it (hard bend, not soft bend), and on the leather side the Bison Made logo stamp was stamped twice just a bit offset from each other (assuming this was done by accident). I ended up contacting Bison Made and they were surprised it got past their quality control. They ended up replacing the strop for a brand new one, at no extra cost to me, they even said they would pay for return shipping. Me being indecisive and not really liking the heavy draw of the english bridle, they allowed me to change for the 2.5 inch horse (it was the same price).

At the end of the day, I am extremely pleased with their customer service, you can definitely purchase with confidence when you buy anything from Bison Made. I can't wait for the new strop to get to me! Thanks for all the previous advice.
