Thread: New kanayama

Has anyone seen the new kanayama strop that Fendrihans is offering it is a 4560 it looks like the linen is attached to the leather an it has a handle.

That's what I thought the handle is different but very cool.

I also like the new logo I didn't show it pic but here it is.

I wonder if the old man is still making them or he sold the name. That's the old misspelling which was later corrected.

I'm really not sure, either way I really dig the look of it.

The style is more modern.

I am not sure if I would like a handle that thin. Keeping the strop taught and level may be an issue with that handle configuration.

Let us know how it works when stropping, please.

I haven't purchased one I was just seeing if anyone had seen it since it's a new style for kanayama. If I do happen to purchase one I will keep people informed maybe one of the mods can change the title of this post to new kanayama model. To help with confusion.

Excellent observation BigSpender. I'm not so happy about this additional appendage either. Old time barbers would not need a handle. They would use what I'd call a claw grip to hold the end of a strop.

In that photo it appears to me that the linen and leather are separate components.

IIRC Kanoyama is the correct spelling, and Kanayama was incorrect, but they went with it because it would have been too much of a hassle to change all of the misspelled items ? I could be (shudder) wrong, I was wrong once before ..........
