What kind of strops do you guys use?
Hey guys, I'm curious about what kind of strops you use? I started out with The Filly from ruprazor.com and recently for Christmas got a new one, I stuck with what I knew and stuck with ruprazor, I asked for the "El Toro" but my mom surprised me with "The Paladin" I kept The Filly for knives and the reverse side with the compound because The Paladin doesn't have that and mom didn't get the canvas strop for it. Sooo yea, I'm just cursious about what kind of strops you guys use?

I use quite a few strops.
The one's that gets the most use are:
1 Kanayama Llama #90000 tri strop
2 SRD premium IV English Bridle.
3 Vintage C-mon "Vel-Edge"
4 SRD paddle strop with all kinds of leathers and fabrics
They all do a good job maintaining a keen edge on my razors.Bjoernar
Um, all of them, any of them that have been in front of me over all these years....

Thanked: 983My own 'no name brand' 'roo hide. I also have a Junior/Royal that I no longer use. It was my first strop. I bought it some years back now.

Only have 2 myself.
A SRD red latigo with web fabric & an Illinois 206 with the canvas. Depending on what feel I'm looking for when I strop dictates which one I use. I'm looking into getting another (or 2) this year.

I have been using an SRD Premium IV every day since I purchased it. I am waiting for my Kanayama 50000 to arrive. I think I will rotate the two depending on the razor.

Thanked: 993I use my SRD Bridle (short version) with webbed fabric, and I follow that with the SRD Premium 1. I have the hard wool felt on the back of that one, with CrOx.

TM Red Latigo and a French hide Kanayama... although I am currently debating about whether or not to sell the Kanayama (awesome, glass-smooth surface with a nice, light drag - but I prefer the the slightly longer length of my Tony Miller (15" of stropping surface vs 14" on the Kanayama))...
