Thanked: 171I would also like to see the thread back.
It sucks that it took a wrong turn.
I hope they bring it back and everyone can behave.
Maybe it's not the _best_ method out there, but I've had success with it and I'd like to continue to discuss it.

Not sure what happened or why. I just beveled and honed three razors following this method that are pretty much HHT. Test shaved small areas with them and they all have a fantastic edge.

It is sad that Bart has resigned over this, as his knowledege was a tremendous help to many of us, I think it is also unfortunate that many members lost their manners and failed to maintain a gentlemanly demeanor. We are all here to share and to learn, and in that process it is important that we realize that EVERYONE has a voice and deserves to be heard, and treated with respect, whether you agree or not with their ideas, and in posts offering methods or specific advice it should be an avenue for exploration and learning, not a competition to see who can claim to be the "King of the Hill".
If the mods bring the thread back, I would like to see them remove ANY posts that did not pertain to the original topic, after all the method concerned honing with a single coticule, not to hear others say how good naniwas and thuringians and eschers are, but it would be nice if some of the experts would start their own posts and write up methods for these other legendary stones to help us rookies out
just my 2 cents

I'm glad this video is here...I needed some reminders of the method and when I came back on the thread was gone. Weird. I think I saved a copy of the pertinent bits somewhere, though...
You know, this is the second shaving forum thread I've seen this week that has seen people leaving...is there something in the air?
I missed what happened...I only know I logged on one day and the thread was gone, but it's a damn shame that Bart left, and I think those who had a hand in it could at least offer an explanation of why...
And does anyone have any way to contact Bart offsite? I'd like to thank him for his contributions...

Set a bevel on a Craftsman Ern (from ebay) with a pink coticule with slurry using Bart's method. Didn't take long at all. Did the x pattern diluting as I went and got it sharp. Shaved to bbs after stropping. I deviated from the method in that I used the one layer of tape for the whole process with no double bevel at the end of the procedure.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

That information wil get back into its place sometime later today, probably. With the offending posts ripped out of course.
Of course, feel free to dwell on conspiracy, our corruptness, yearning for power, or plans to take over the world.
And by all means, do it in public. Who knows... maybe you'll be able to whip up a mob and get a real mess going.
Or maybe you can assume that we are really not up to anything nefarious, and that we are really not that bad, and that we run this place in our off-duty hours which means that things might take some time to get done.Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.
To spit in Sightblinder’s eye on the Last Day

Bruno, the thanks is for your use of the word "Nefarious". It is so seldom used these days and you used it so well.
