Man, Andrew! I keep looking at it. You should be proud of yourself for doing that.
Shows off your skills and delights everyone. A home run! :tu
May you and your family become closer than ever huddled around.
I have a 3 legged iron firepit in the backyard with a removable grill.
Some of the best times....Something about a fire. Primeval.
Proud of you. Proud of that!
So in my domed-glass antique frame debacle, I see there are a bunch for sale on Eboy....
Then, I pass these up out in the shop. Tell myself I should get that up over the office to store......A friend gave them to me. Said they came from his grandfather's yacht.
Dammitt! Solid brass. Thumbscrews and hinges.
Backs put in...
Recessed into the drywall......
Razors inside. Things are finally getting sick for me. Thank goodness! :D

Those are really cool Tom. And that is one great idea!!!!
You're pretty bright, and creative my friend
It's gonna be sick, Dave! Thanks! ;)
My first razor restoration projects keep advancing, slowly, as I find time. I've cleaned the blades, made the scales, polished them up, and have shaped and fitted the wedge and have them mocked up. I rushed the squared off scales a bit and could have done a bit better for shaping and symmetry, but the rounded scales came out pretty decent I think for an amateur. Just have to get some pinning materials and basic tools, try my hand at peening, and then they should be ready for the hones and a shave--really looking forward to it!Attachment 270216Attachment 270217Attachment 270218Attachment 270219Attachment 270220Attachment 270221
That is a mighty fine first restoration there
It all looks good to me. Great job
We are our own worst critic j. You are doing fine. Patience pays off in the end. Both of these are something to be proud of.
Andrew I love that fire place! As Tom stated be proud of yourself, I consider you a fine craftsman and your family will get great memories from your hard labor.
Thanks Tom, I am proud of it, but just really glad it's done so I can enjoy it. The girls really love it, so that makes me even more happy.
Those brass windows, you should definitely recess in the drywall. That would look epic all polished up, with razors in behind!
