Easy to see with those flat-topped scales as you can use little spring-clamps without them slipping off.
....Bolt the wedge end together, some wide washers against the scales. Bolt the top also, a spacer wider than the tang between the scales. See what the gap is around the wedge. Use some little spring clamps around the wedge end.
See if you can close the gap with the clamps. I have seen some which had the wedge smashed in the center a bit by being pinned all those years. Everything sometimes fits fine.

Mike that Tru-Oil is gonna light 'em up! Wood scales are cool because you don't quite know the grain pattern you will get 'till you have the final shape. Nice one's there!
I'm trying to catch up on some threads and some workshop work after being away for the past week. Went to a little city out there in the desert with lots of bright lights and lots of everything else too!! Saw a grand ol' split in the earth while I was at it.
The Northfield is coming along now. Got the scales done a couple weeks ago and now some progress on the blade. This is the blade that someone went sideways with a power tool on. Got it hand sanded to 800 grit here and will probably keep going to a near mirror finish as that appears to be what was on it originally. I'm steering clear of the tang stamp as best I can, it's a little shallow in places.

Ahhhh, very nice, sweet glow about um, at 800. Bit look like hell, in hand. [emoji57]

Yeah, 800 doesn't quite cut it in hand! Looks swirly! I have some work left, will sand up to 3000 then polish it off. But the good news at this point is that the sideways marks (and the pitting) are all out.

Mike those scales are going to rock.
Tuzi looking forward to seeing that razor all done up!
-
Awesome scales Mike.
Tuzi, that blade looks great just the way it is.
