Silver solder is a possibility. I’ve seen others in similar shape fixed that way.
Damn that sucks. I feel for ya.
Shows how hard some of these old blades are.
Turn it into a fixed blade design if the blade is undamaged.
Bugger :gaah:
Wow that is sure a bummer, I'm real sorry man.
That hurts. The blade itself still looks very good and there is still a lot of the tang left. It would be a shame to retire it before trying to bring it back.
I’ve seen examples of silver solder used on the thinner parts of a broken or cracked blade, so Rez’s suggestion could work. As Onimaru says, there seems to be enough tang left for you to put it into a fixed handle.
Silver solder, or tig would be my solution as well. Fortunately the break is through the pivot so you can get better penetration with your repair.
Presuming you have experience and access to the above with some cold trap. A very good repair can be achieved.
Good luck. Bath mats are a god send on the tiled floors of our shave caves.
I can feel that rush of despair you were feeling, as you watched it happen. Been there before, brother. Damn, that sucks.!
But as said, it can be repaired.
