Happy Friday Jerry.
Thanks Shaun. I just put truck away. 76.75 hrs in last 5 days. Time for bed!
Here is a shop for buying blanks for plastic scales. Double check the listing to assure you get a 6" or longer length. I have found the 1.5 inch square by 6" Inlace Acrylester "spindles"/ blanks work well for me. They are found under "Big Blanks in the top index.
I slab them off to the thickness I need.

Yes he also operates the pen supply co.
~Richard
PS I have bought from him for over ten years
Have a good rest Jerry.
Richard, I believe Roy mentioned buying from him to in another thread. When I get ready for some plastic scales I'll have to get in touch with him.
I'm actually planning to hire a man with a wood shop to cut up some blanks for me. I'm sure it will be more blanks than I can use anytime soon though.
Going to try and get a maple/resin hybrid blank, bocote, ebony, and some other pieces cut up.
Bought 6 drill bits. #47, #50, #52. Delivered to the store for pick-up was cheaper and I drive right by the place on the way to work. Cost: $13.42
Thanks for the help, Richard! Now, After a doc appointment, I will get some bone and a Flex light. Then make some wedges and get started on finishing the scales.
Turned a pen made out of gator jawbone fused with alumilite.

Stinky stuff to work with, as expected.
But an interesting completed work.
Feels nice in the hand all polished up.
Is that real gator jawbone or something made to look like it, Mike?
Nice work Mike. BUT, I think it looked more like Jawbone in a bigger piece. Still, it is a beauty for sure. :chapeau
That other color (cream?) makes it stand out nice!
That's a sweet looking pen there Mike.
Thanks gents.
Real alligator jawbone Tom( I presume from the label) set in the alumilite by some outfit in the states.
The cream colour is the actual bone, the blue and specks are where the resin are still gripping the voids within the skeletal jaw.
I agree, a lot of the bone look is lost turning it this small a dia but the pen shape taper dictates a lot of the restrictions kit to kit.
I have a matched pair in gold resin still to turn a travel (fusion) razor and stand at a later date..
