I think they'll be salvageable, Jerry, but the scales are a real challenge, I'm afraid they'll have to be dyed, if I can get them repaired. The worst I've seen yet..!! The bugs ate everything, including the wedge. Its only the outer skin of the scales, that's left of the wedge, end.
I'll post more pics, later. I did get it separated last night.
As for the box, that's on the owner. The wife won't let me work on other's, boxes. :shrug:

A little ebony and ivory recovery?
Something recycle with something recycled. The last of the regrinds blades from last year. The scales are from a razor I have had for a very long time. They were both nice but the bottom of the blade stuck out. I think this works much better.

I’m on the road tonight and using my phone so I will be brief. Making patterns is very easy. Basically I just focus on how the contact is not where. With this method I touch down all over the place then go back and hit the gaps. This pattern is easier than the other two I do. The one I call bark is probably the hardest of the three to repeat. One of the issue is because of rotation you need to flip the piece and invert your motion. As you get close to the edge on the right side the bit will grab that is the reason to flip. Having all the steps in the right order helps too.
