Well put my friend. As to the lite beer I like a quote from Hank Hill,

"We don't need any feminine products . Put that light beer back"
You know, we live in the Golden Age of craft beers. I like a big, bold IPA when I'm in the mood, but an icy Corona or PBR on a hot day just hits the spot.
And the ultimate is if I remember to put a PBR in the freezer about half an hour before I finish with yardwork in the summer. Crack it open, salt the rim, and down it ice crystals and all-aaaaahhh.
I like a good IPA but mainly anything with really high gravity. It gives it higher alcohol content but it also gives it more flavor because there's more in The mix. Down here in Sunny Florida a nice crisp rice lager is not too bad after a hot day but anything less than 5 1/2% is just fizzy water as far as I'm concerned
Paul-Have you tried Cigar City Jai Alai? It's an IPA from Tampa that is just fantastic!

I tried the Jai Alai and as I recall didn't care for it. I only had one and it's been a while but as I remember the bittering hops and the finishing/aroma hops didn't balance well for my taste. It's not a judgment because it's all subjective. I tend to like more floral hops like Cascade. Now, Lagunitas IPA I thought was very well balanced. I like an ale to be more dry than malty usually. I know that seems to conflict with the high gravity but it all depends from day-to-day. You know one that I like as a staple is Foster's ale in the green label oil can. That's not actually made by Foster's in Australia. It's licensed I think by Miller but I'm not positive. Anyway I know they don't make it. That's actually an APA not an IPA. Similar but a little maltier and a little fruitier than a lot of the IPAs especially the rye ales.
Funny story. I was always very thin most of my life and then started home brewing. In 6 months I gained 40 lb and said I better quit before I look like the Michelin Man. I'm 5'7" so 40 lbs makes a lot of difference on me.
Stone sells one called Ruination. They put so many hops in it that after a couple sips, nothing will taste right. I think it was 9.6%. only came in the big bottles. I quit drinking any alcohol for 1.5 years. About a month ago i just wanted a beer. I don't drink much but when i do i don't drink fizzy water.
