Don't worry, solid brass rod will be strong enough for pinning. If you want a quick and dirty pin vise, just take the chuck off an old electric drill.

I'm not sure of the strength of copper, I know brass works well.
I'll have to keep my eye out for old drills - thanks for the idea.
You're right, now that I think about it, I've never seen copper pins on any razor. I'll stick with brass and nickel silver.
You can use bronze. Looks cool, too.
Sharpton has done a few, in bronze.
Their here in the thread, somewhere.
I like that idea, bronze might look nice with the copper collars.
Would silicone/bronze welding rod work? That's mostly what I found with a quick search.
Copper is too soft. It also costs more usually. When you talk about brass, nickel silver and bronze these are all copper alloys consisting of larger or smaller amounts of copper to other metals, mainly zinc. They are all bronze. What most people call brass is more zinc which gives it a yellow tint. That is why it is called yellow brass while red brass (bronze) has more copper added, or less zinc, however you want to look at it. Nickel silver or German silver is yellow brass with nickel added.to give it a.lighter yellow color and more rigidity. There is no silver in it. That is why I laugh when I see people abbreviate it NiAg.
It finally warmed up past the single digits outside, and the sun was out and no wind so...
I broke out some fun tools and made 5 sets of scales for razors that need dressed soon. Nothing special.
So here is a look at 5 different sizes, shapes and woods. Matching wedges. Now to get some sanding done in the next week.

I need to get some of those fasteners.
