I had or have a Christiansen and it is an amazing razor. You can’t go wrong with getting that one back to work.

Definitely give the Tru-Oil a try. Its remarkable at bringing wood to life. Nothing else can compare to it.

When you join aluminium and steel together, the aluminium will be preferentially corroded. Surprising, isn’t it, since we think of aluminum as being more corrosion-resistant than steel? In fact, aluminum is more resistant to general corrosion than steel. What I am describing here is a preferential corrosion that occurs locally at an aluminum/steel joint.
So in the long run the aluminium will corrode before the steel, where the two make contact.
You may just get some black staining at the pivot over time.

Oh yeah, definitely not done sanding yet.
With all this sanding I could have actually done a regrind.

Still not done yet but getting there.
There are ways of using tape to try and get around the heavy wear on the spine.

The first set of pictures there is actually with three layers of tape. I could only get it to contact about a quarter inch, maybe half an inch of the blade on each side. The geometry of it was really wonky but I've got it pretty close now. A little bit more sanding and some layers of tape and I think I should be able to get a decent bevel out of it. Thanks Bob
