All kinds a good stuff going on, myself... Nice and slow. [emoji18] doing my best on what's left off this thing. Making it look nice, and hone right, has been something. Taken down to 400 now, it awaits the 600 greaseless.
Its nice to see the edge laying flat again.

So I got my Geneva clauss cleaned, pin snugged up and honed. It really took a nice edge and cleaned up pretty well. I left some character because everything else was in too decent of shape to mess with it.
I only took this one up to 8k, really for one reason. Wanted to see how well my new stones and I are getting on. I'd say well edge is a mirror and no prep cold water shave was great.
Wonderful works fellas keep it up!

I have a cheap one that I bought new and it gets hot too. I think if you want to get some serious use out of them you need to spend big money on the name brand units. I have two and switch them back and forth and it is never an issue. That and I do mostly hand work so they see little use.Quote:

So a test-fit on this thing looks pretty good. Closes to the inside a bit, but notsobad.

Mocked-up the top with a few little nuts and proceeded to pin the bottom....
Nobody seems to show how they juggle pins and multiple collars.
My way is to use an o-ring like a rubber band, remove the screw, and insert a rod.
I install the collars on one side, scotch tape them down, and use the rod to go through the tape. Do the same on the other side. That way, I can remove and reinstall my pin without disturbing anything as-sizing it. I wanted a bit too much of the bronze rod poking-out as I wanted to pile it up on the steel collars.

Since a pile of peening would be required for the desired effect, I annealed the ends of my sized rod to make it go easier.

I peen it with the tape on till close to the end and remove the tape and o-ring to continue.

Same deal up top, turned out fine. The bronze will turn golden after a while and stand out even more.
