Looking around under towels and such for a blade, not too far gone, that needs scales since I have a few set of blanks to play with.

Had this old spike a long time so I'm going to open it up and see what it cleans up like.
Not too much wear as Spikes go, Mike. Scales OK?
That may be the cleanest Spike I've ever seen Mike.

Scales went the way of the banana and that's as much as it closes. Tip hits the wedge, but I got it for a song a few years back and forgot it was in the 'to do' box. It is pretty clean actually, just always seemed 'little' compared to the others I was working on, hence why it lay dormant so long.
I was going to try to heat and straighten the scales as per Outback's heat lamp tricks, but thought, mah, I can maybe make something entirely new and transpose the spike logo at the same time.
Wife's heading out for the last week of March, Palm Springs girls escape with her sister and cousins, so I am planning on building that new engraving rig I've been working on. That logo is a good test before I try Tuzi's red G10's for his Otto.
If it works, it will be crisper font than I can achieve with the laser I believe, with less heat biasing than the laser as well. That red devil I did in the transparent red showed the issues with lasers and plastic if the burns to strong, slight rippling on the underside etc.
Thanks gents. And grab Friday with both hands and get to the finish line intact today!!
I completed my saw. I decided to leave it a little rough as this was a learning project and I now have a plan to build a more refined saw out of Walnut. It does work well though and the 1/2 inch 14 tpi bandsaw blade will resaw boards for razor scales.
