Yes. I cut it off at the surface with the blade in between and squeezed together, then took it back out and dressed it clean and smooth with a file which recessed it just a hair on either side.
Actually, even if it were flush or a little above they would still probably snug up. These domed collars (brass) had a smaller ferous metal collar (probably tin) underneath which was also domed.
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that I also polished the lead wedge since the scales came out so translucent.
I think it looks pretty good for a nearly 200 year old razor. Hopefully it will look good and work well for that many more years.
