What are you working on?

Been working on this 7/8 LeGrelot made new scales from faux ivory so went for a collarless pins set up,
well honed it up today and the pivot kept getting floppy so gave it a few touch ups to tighten it, then as I was finish honing it was getting very loose again, so put up with it until I finished honing,
then as I went to give it a tighten again before stropping with a floppy razor this happened aaaahhhhh expletives were expressed

So looks it looks like i will be working on at least 1 new scale again, but I think it will be a new pair as I was not completely happy with the shape on this blade

Sometimes that is just the way. I swear when things go sideways too, it makes me feel a lot better. I made two sets of faux ivory scales from the same sheet and snapped them both at the pivot. I have not made faux ivory scales since.

Martin. It is Lebreton A. Angers. I have seen a picture of another blade marked Angers with the same key mark. Can you tell me anything about this maker?

Reminds me of my gun stock, on my 97 Winchester. IMO, Tru- Oil would make that really pop, and give great depth to the finish. Only about 10 thin coats, or so. [emoji57]

The reason that i mentioned that it could be "LeBreton A Angers" is because its the only one that i found that could be a match for your razor. LeBreton, Coutelier (cutler) is listed in a 1833 Directory of business in Angers.

Im thinking this was a short lived business as none others are found, it is also possible that this razor was made for LeBreton since there was other LeBreton business in that time period.

Just put together a brush holder that I will mount inside the bathroom storage space along the wall under the top shelf. These are T8/T12 florescent light clips and seem to work perfectly. Coated with rubber, good springiness, and inexpensive.

Just picked up this Christopher Johnson & Co. full wedge Sheffield. Just going to give it a light cleaning and leave it as is as not to lose the Masonic? Etching.

That's a very cool blade rickmccarey. I'd hit that rust with a little oil and steel wool and give it a very light polishing.

I think that's about as Masonic as an etch could get.

Very cool. I have a few pristine examples from that maker.
So does anyone know about Chris Johnson?
