Old 'end of day' celluloid. At the end of the day, all colors were used-up to create this type of scale.
Someone took the term literally on these, it seems! Really old, from the 30's, I think.
That's funny. Use to work in a plastics shop,that made stuff for Rubbermaid. At the end of certain runs of production, we would mix other colored resin pellets together, and run a batch for the people in the shop and ourselves as well.
Ohh the 80's. Har!!

Finished pinning up the 5072.

Ended up having to add a third pin otherwise the bottom of the tang clipped the scale and kept the razor from sitting in proper.
I have these down to .85 thick so rather than go thinner I opted for the third pin and exact spacer in between to bend the wood to my will, lol. They have a nice curve to them now and I like the scale flow.

For the sake of the shave, and because of how thinly ground these blades are, I was fairly limited as to how much sanding I could do to the blade and settled for a satin esk cleaning up of the crud that had bit her face over the years. Decided to remove the goldwash from inside the stamps, t'was a bit to much... ;)
Treated with renwax on both scales and blade, and buffed up nicely save for all the lint!
Laser helped restore what wasn't there in the first place or was worn off from clean up without looking brand new or tacky, IMO.

That looks awesome, it came out really nice. Love the color of the wood with the design on there. I guess this is as good of time as any to ask, what's in between the scales on the third pin? I have wanted to try a third pin at times for the reason you stated above - "bend the wood to your will" - but haven't yet done so. I was thinking of using brass tubing on the pin part between scales just because that's what I have on hand.
