Saw this lonely off brand on ebay the other day with no bids, felt sorry for him so I snatched him up. He's a M.G. Long & Co. Sheffield, Longs Shilling Razor etch. Smilling french point wedge.

Tried to smooth away some of the bad hone wear, but there's a bit left. Polished the scales up, new pins and washers and now just need to hit the hones.

Worth a wee bit more than a shilling now mate.
Nice save Andrew. Looks great.
I was looking for a shorter blade a couple days ago and was offered one for a good price so I bought it. I was told it was going to need some work. Its a Genco, and looking it up, I have found that the company has great reviews and that with a good edge it's a great shaver. Received it Monday and I'll be sending it out for honing Friday. This is the first razor I have tried but being that I want to use it rather than take it apart I just cleaned it up The best I could without taking too much metal away. The blade is 2.25".

I sanded it down to 2000 grit after this next picture. This is taken around 800 grit.

I'm going to try to pick up a couple more to play around with because I find this to be fun. I could spend more time on it, but I really want to use it Lol.

Camel bone scales for another 5/8 wade and butcher project. I think I'm going to 're use the original lead wedge. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...88951d2845.jpg
Great work gents..!!!
Turn your back for a moment, and there's 16 posts and reply s.
I myself have honed the second Taylor.
Done on same progression as the other, last night.
It awaits the mornings test shave.
I am interested in learning, but I don't have any stones to hone on. I picked up a couple low $ razors for the time being. I wouldn't mind doing a full restoration on one of them. I gotta spread the spending out to keep the wife at bay lol
