Couldn't take it anymore...!!
Pulled the scales from it nice warm oil bath, they'd been in long enough. Hit um real good with steel wool, and polished by hand with CA polish (acrylic polish).
Outta the oil, and wiped off.

I'm really happy with how they came out. But I need to figure out a better way to match the colors, in scales like these. Ink..dye..!? I'm bound to figure it out...someday.

The thread will only allow a few photos on each reply. I am not sure of the amount but it may be by picture size also.

Mike I give you a HARUMP! Very nice work.
Here's an old Le Grelot:

That's the auction picture from France, where I ordered it from. When I got it I found out it was kind of frowny:
Attachment 281381
But I wasn't too sore because I only paid $12.51 plus about $10 shipping. But why the frown? Well, looking at the other side:
Attachment 281382
It looks like there's a lot of spine wear right over the frown. But why? Was the blade bowed? Nope, the light you can see there where the wear is shows they weren't straightening a bow:
Attachment 281383
Looks like someone just got really heavy handed on the honing. Took that in:
Attachment 281386
The wedge is oddly truncated, but I think it isn't chipped but was done at the factory because it was apparently sawed off there (I can see the saw marks, don't know if they show in the picture):
Attachment 281388
Cleaned it up but left some patina. This is before honing:
Attachment 281391
Honed it up, it'll be my New Year's Eve shaver. Here it is with my New Year's day shaver, a Lockwood Pampa that will be in my next post:

All original , cept the pins, which are silver nickle. That's what came out..that's what went back in.
