Sorry, forgot "pics or it didn't happen".

The metal supplier was 3 blocks from my shop, and 3/16" was the widest they had that day, so that's what I went with.

Somehow it is still cheaper to pay the shipping and exchange than to walk in a get it. I got a 1/4" piece , shipped , for less from the US.

That is an interesting shape, It may, from some of the Kamisori layouts, shave quite well!

I tried to emulate the shape of my Biskmark with this one. the picture angle doesn't really show the shape well.

The good news is the bevel seems straight. Straight bevel I presume means that it did not twist or bend during heat treat and quenching and that the grind is even.

This is the results of a little experiment using 3/4 dia Pex tube. I'll call this "hot" and will have a "cold" in the works soon.
The blade is a Japanese Razor Kang Kee from Melchior Bros.

I'm currently making my first set of wood scales. I fell in love head over heels with my TI scales, and this is an attempt to copy them. I'm hoping it all comes together nicely considering first wood scales and first CA glue finish.

Yeah, "locally sourced" precision ground tool steel can be a bit spendy compared to getting it from one of the knife makers suppliers. Add to that the fact that any form of O1 is not cheap compared to say comparable sizes of 1095 or 52100 no matter who you buy it from and you can experience some sticker shock.
