+1 , spoke with Randy earlier this week and he told me about the basement in Wisconsin. He is going to be tied up for a week or two ....... figuratively speaking

Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Well,,, my IQ tested out at 64,,,, 4 more points than needed to join the Marines Corps,,,,,

    But,,,,,,,,

I use my brain 3 times a day, so that puts my IQ at 192,,,, so I have a IQ higher than all you guys & yes, Mike,, even higher than Stephen William Hawking,,,

quitstik,,,, if you want to try your idea out,,, then do so,,, document your work with photos & good notes,, let us see this in a thread. Contact the references(members) that were given to you & get their advice. Maybe something good & useful will come from your project.

I looked up one of my old posts and found that a guy called Merle Johnson bought the American Hone Co c1900 and brought employee Louise Hiatt with him from another of his companies to oversee the hone making. She had the advantage of being taught by the old workers, looking them up and asking questions as the need arose.

The most popular hone was the frictionite, a baked hone containing abrasive grit and silica. The recipe was belonged to the owners of Dubl Duck, allegedly.

Louise was found dead at her home on a christmas morning and although they knew all the ingredients, no one could make the hones - she took that secret to her grave. When she started she had only just finished school.

There were other hurdles. A Rhodesian company supplied the grit for the 00 Frictionite I believe. When the Rhodesian company went bust supplies dried up.

    Regards,

Hirlau, Tom told me that your IQ is so low that you found it while digging a hole. At least I think he was talking about your IQ...

Just because I have an IQ that puts me in the range of most geniuses does NOT mean that I am intelligent by any stretch of the imagination. All it does is make it harder for me to cope in this world. Adding on top of that the fact that I am ADD and OCD creates even more obstacles. The best way to put it is that I am scatter brained or a flibbertigibbet (real word, look it up), just one step away from the looney bin. The reason I give you this non-pertinent information is so that you might understand where this next bit comes from. Because my brain is constantly working and never shuts up I usually get overwhelmed with all the ideas that flood in. One of the things that has been continually creeping into my thoughts is the use of MDF(Micro-defect Free) cement for items that it would not neccessarily be considered for such as scales and brush handles. MDF cement is a combination of calcium aluminate cement and polyvinyl alcohol. It has high strength and moisture resistant properties that would make it an excellent, if not unusual, choice for a material to use in those applications. I have also been toying with the idea of using it to manufacture hones. Due to a clerical error I find myself in possession of over two pounds of Chromium Oxide and not a lot of ideas of what to do with it. I was thinking that a mixture of CrOx and MDF cement in a mold with pressure added might just produce a usable hone. Just one of those things that keeps running around in my head attempting to drive me absolutely batty so I put it out here for your consideration, ridicule and/or thoughts.
There's an old saying, "You can't control what comes into your head, but you can control how long it stay's there."

I find this works pretty well for me, considering I have and IQ of 181.....
