Yep, that's a French blade. I'm at work but can check which manufacturer later.
What do you think about the grind fix noted by black marker?

Sorry I got busy and didn't respond to the confusion about the spike thing.
If you look at the picture with the black marker showing what will be taken off with the grinder, the result has a spike in front of the thumb. This instead of curving up to the tang.. kindof like those klas tornblom blades (among others) but obviously bigger.
I'll go grind it now and put a picture up.
I've been slaving away on this W&B for hours.. really could use the beak! Lol

Ohhhh, ok, you're talking about grinding out the part you marked in black. Is that correct? If so, I would take it all off leaving no "spike"!

    OHHHHHH MAN!
I feel like a bonehead thats for sure.
Just took it down, grinded it and looked, its a Joseph Allen and Son. Sorry, this whole time I had it confused with a French blade that looks very similar, had them both on a table with a bunch of restore blades all french except the Joseph Allen.
Here it is. I really like it. Could go streamline up to the tang but thats boring to me IMHO and this actually feels better I think because the thumb rests up against it.
Still need to take pitting out and polish it up, hone it, maybe new scales.
Sorry about the confusion, thanks for checking it out.

I must say, it is different. I first said Joseph Elliot because I could see what appeared to be Joseph but I knew it wasn't a Rodgers. I didn't think of Joseph Allen & Sons though.

    Thought I'd revive this thread.
I've been working on this W&B Shorty lately, been sneaking away!
Here is a progression of pics.
Just dyed the horn scales but realized that I should have dyed the scales before giving the epoxy patch a thin coat of CA.
The result is that the bog-epoxy patch is a nice black, but there is an edge that can be seen where the CA blocked the dye from the horn.

I'll need to take it back down past the CA, dye it, and then CA it again.

Also the same happened on a lazy CA fix on the show side.
    Been a while so..
