The trial and error process is cut down dramatically thanks to all the pics and threads of the neat stuff guys have tried on here.
Most of my own ideas came from chats or reading about the stuff all you restoration nuts like to attempt, then just adapted to the stuff I already know about and Voila..
Phrank's epic royal Windsor blade repair got me thinking about silver solder as a tool that could be used in the razor world, then this blade came along that needed a skin graft, and there you go..ideas collide.. Hehe.

I do have a W&B with that accented "monkey tail" type, much more rounded....the one in your pic Mike does look like it's been bent even further, the one below fits on the pinky almost like a ring...very snug fitting, so I can see where you're coming from.



Edited to add - here's a shot of another razor with a clearer shot of that type of "tail", this one shows it a little better, I can see that yours is definitely bent upwards, making a challenging grip:

Those tails have almost identical hook at the base of the tail. Cool, maybe not as misused as I feared. Thanks for posting them phrank.

Upon arrival at home tonight I was looking at my repair under daylight conditions and thought I could do better. I tried to get more heat up closer to the pivot hole without heating the tip. Those of you with gas welding experience, feel free to chuckle...
Impossible,,, the solder would re melt where already set, at the tip, before the area further up, with more mass, ever heated up. The entire solder job would then drip to the floor.
Ok, more ice, more focused heat, more mini solder steps instead,then quench, and repeat,,good enough, because I don't think I can do better with the tools on hand.

Really, the only way I'm thinking could fully encapsulate the tail would be a thimble sized ceramic crucible filled with silver solder and the blade dunked in tail first until the required heat was achieved for adhesion.
Don't think I will test the idea as its so rare to have one with the tail so far gone and yet the rest of the blade is in such fine shape.
As seen in the second pic, I really don't want to do much to this thing, I like the age of it as reflected in its colour.

I would leave it like it is now Mike. I think it looks good enough.

Thanks Steve. Yes, I agree. Maybe a bit of polish up around the stamp, but on to scales!

Sadly the original hardware was also too rusty to save even though I was able to drill them off safely.
They just died on the buffing wheel..
