Otay. Got the blade and scales about as good as they are going to get.....
2 of Babur's collars have been trimmed WAY down for the purpose...
Two of AJKenne's nickel silver collars have been polished-up and will sit upon Babur's like so.....
I have learned to 'seat' the 2 collars in this manner to keep the 'crush' to a minimum as-peening.
An old razor tang for an anvil, a bit of steel rod in the vise, and this cool aluminum tool which Babur provides with his collars. Tapping on top of the tool makes the collars conform to each other nicely.....
An hour 'til my helper arrives. I might make it before he gets here and I will have to actually fix some cars!

So I am a fiend with the Scotch tape as pinning razors. wrapped around tightly at the tip, another round under the pin, and 2 little pieces on either side to keep the collars in place.......
After a bit of peening, I remove my 2 little pieces and see where I am in regard to pin length. Sometimes, at this point, I go out and dremel-drum a bit off one side if I feel I got the pin too long.
Yes, I did it again!
So more peening, tiny taps at a slight angle all around the pin, pushing the collars down. I save the straight-on taps for the end. As all looks well, I take the rest of the tape off, check the tightness. Sometimes I peen with the blade open at it's loosest point. Tricky! ....
Got it nice and tight, blade closes center, Polished up the pins with the hammer, tapping lightly, yadda, yadda.
Might just hone this up to-nite! Here comes my helper!Last edited by sharptonn; 09-14-2016 at 06:10 PM.

Geeze guys! AJKenne is a member here. His collars are varied and absolutely top-notch, first division. Some of my absolute favorites are these, Silver, brass, or stainless, I think!
They shine-up like new dollars!

Babur sells on ebay, I have linked to him a jillion times. His things make things happen, tight and right. JMO
Lemme find it..

He has some with fancy overcollars, but they all have the same base 'through collar' underneath, which can be used alone. I think he has more variations on as well.
Big fun to be able to combine them successfully, I suppose!Last edited by sharptonn; 09-22-2016 at 02:22 AM.
