Has anyone ever made scales with jet and mother of pearl? I think Tom could do it. It was a combination of two images which made me think of it: the cufflinks I tossed in the SOTD pic today (actually jet and MOP) and Tom's wild B&W and sparkly SOTD pic which is mildly intoxicating.

Very nice Joseph
Great work on the scales and pins.
As the wedge goes... Ya win or loose some, still looks good though.
Had that happen on me as well.
Wanted a copper wedge, so I made it from two pennys, had them at a perfect fit, until I pinned it up.
Thats when they seperated, so I didnt bother to post the razor, just honed and shaved with it.
I'll fix it another day...when I'm bored. [emoji6]Mike

Well, here is a rarely seen Genco. It is going to need to be butchered unfortunately because someone apparently broke the blade but on the opposite side of the tang it says, W.R. Case & Sons. According to my Knives & Razors book by Jim Sargent, Case bought out Geneva Cutlery in 1935 & only razors marked Genco, Bradford, PA were made & sold until around 1955. This particular razor is the Fluid Steel model. I hate to butcher this one. It's the only Genco I have that says Case on the opposite side of the tang although some Red Imp say it on them & I think my Cases Aces is that way also.

I found a cheap one to work on last weekend, that can be brought here.
A 6/8 Buck Brothers, needing to be made a 5/8ths, and a good cleaning.
Will attack it, tomorrow after work.Mike

Thanked: 4206Working on one that Tom gifted me some more this weekend. It's the Sheffield that was gold washed originally so I reapplied it a few weeks back.
Putting this one in bone scales and it's my first sojourn into bonery.
Cut em on the scroll saw and sanded them down to 2.25mm thick.
Was reading up on scrimshaw techniques so made a few tungsten tools to give it a go on this bone.
And here after I applied some color.
Crude technique, but my first attempt at an old way of scribing.
Sort of committed now,

B52, that's cool! Were you just practicing on that piece or is it a scale you are going to use?

Thanked: 4206I was practicing on it, and will end up using the scales as well Steve.
I figure the original whalers made squiggly lines due to the waves, so I'm just paying tribute, maintaining the authenticity of the craft making my lines squiggly as well. yea,, that's the reason.
