Paper. “Need?” Lol, no need. But starting with 1/16 paper Macarta that I’m potholing, I’m kind of glad. That and it does add weight.
But to your question - I wanted it. Really, that’s it. No logic other than a true hate of warping. The liner is a real pain though, and a... to get through with only a Dremel, I wish I didn’t want it. Washers are nickel too. Why? I had em lol. Same as the brass washer. Just a hint of color that I wanted.
I mean, I don’t know if there’s any “logic” to it. I’m ok with that.David

Well, there it is. My longest blade in the set - the Le Grelot, and the shortest - the No 42 3/8” that I used as the prototype.
Here’s a more dramatic illustration of the size difference.
So close to each other, they look kind of funny. But alone, they look great. I stoked about honing the TI. Before the blade hit the scales on closing. I can hone her up and feel good about it now! Yay!
