    Default Razor pricing?

Hello, new guy here. Been lurking for awhile, absorbing info, but this is my first time posting on these forums.

I posted this question over on B&B, but figured you guys could probably help also.

Both were completely covered in rust, look like they've been at the bottom of a lake for the last 50 years, but have great scales, no cracks or chips, no warping, and no rust at the edge. So far I have the Torrey at a near mirror finish, almost completed. Just needs a final buffing to remove the 2000 grit scratches. Ill post pics in the restore thread when its done.

I'm guessing its always better, value-wise, to re use the original scales? Or is it better to put new ones on?

Anyways, moral of the story is that I really like restoring these things, but the wife will only let me keep so many(have 8 straights now, lol). So I'm just wondering how to appropriately price them for sale here on the b/s/t.

Also, maybe there is someone I can pm pics to when they are finished, who can give me a professional opinion of what theyre worth?

    Thanx!
    Eric
Thanks for any help you can give me!!

Well, SRP policy says we don't do valuations. I suppose you could PM people, but that's putting a lot of stock into peoples opinion of your work. Wouldn't it be better to figure out what you need for your time and effort, and see if the market will accept it? If yes, carry on! If no, maybe restoration isn't the path for you-- or at least without sales until more practice.

The fastest way to find the appropriate price for them would be to put them on eBay, where the (rather vast!) market can pay exactly what the market feels them to be worth.

Wasn't really asking for a direct appraisal, per se. Sorry if it came across like that. More like asking what guidelines you go by in deciding what to ask. I just don't want to look like a jacka** by asking way too much....

I don't sell razors but if I did, and wanted a price guide, I'd have a look at the classified section on here and on other websites. If you see a similar razor whether better or worse than yours, adjust your price accordingly.

Sorry but it's the best I can think of.

I'll give you a big tip. Every razor is worth between $0.01 and $PRICELESS.

Look at what they sell for in the classifieds, the bay etc, and determine your own valuations based on comparable information which is available to you.

Then take into account the distortions within the data at your discern, due to the fact that certain razors which have low value to some may be extremely valuable to others. And impulsive RAD buys in addition to the poor knowledge of some hobbyists.

Thanks for the answers! I'll just start studying the classified section and go from there!

You might want to check completed non-BIN auctions on ebay, taking note of razor brand, size, and condition to get a general idea of what current values are hovering around

Then multiply those values by 10% and pm me
Find me on SRP's official chat in ##srp on Freenode. Link is at top of SRP's homepage
