As long as it works, great. My warning was mainly aimed at the pots with seals that have a V cross section. I think that these would fail quickly compared to the other types. Did you deal with the safety devices?

Thanked: 2027Moving along,cactus juice on the way,bought a 2.5 CFM pump on C.List today, 40 bux,harbor frieght N.I.B, pulls 28.5 Hg in my local.
Goodwill store, bought a toaster oven, 8 bux, for curing.Dinked around, made several chambers,Glens will work to perfection but the seal will fail down the road (JMo) Glens works well on a small scale.
Bought a chamber on the bay, 6.5x6.5 with the gauge and all fittings $95 shipped,I do alot of wood products,I think this will work for me. for less than than 200 bux.

Thanked: 13249The seal DOES fail, the solutions get on the silicone seal and it finally gives up the ghost, my first one from that old thread died today, moved the valve over to a new Jar top and back up and running
I found some 1/2 Gallon Mason Jars at Wally World 6/$12 so I might give them a try as the seals on mason jars are designed to be interchanged..
Bill can you PM me a link to the chamber you found on the Bay I would like to take a look as that sounds goodLast edited by gssixgun; 06-08-2013 at 05:10 AM.

Thanked: 2027This is my final system,it works to perfection and has been alot of fun.
What I have learned is you can stabilize (resin impregnate) almost anything,I have done wood,Bone,Horn,Ivory, even a pce of sandstone.
Am using the cactus Juice, It works very well, you can have a finished product ready to use within a matter of hrs.
Of interst to me is that the materials Machine far differant when stabilized, almost like working with phenolics.
This is good stuff

Thanked: 2027Well my chamber cracked today
vendor sent out another but I think I found a better way,I think you can make a killer chamber for < 20 bux
3/8 in. plexi cap,gauge fittings.
Was at cost plus world market, I saw this SS clad thick glass jar, even has a viewing window.
I ran my DMT 325 over the rim to flatten it a tad, than used the DMT 1200 to smooth it,Put some silicone grease on the rim (no gaskets needed)
Pulls and holds vac like a champ.

Have any of you seem the Vacuum set ups that they now have marinating barbecue. It's a setup using all plastic parts with a vacuum that is set to hold for hours. Saw it in a local supermarket last week. Wondered if something like that would work?
