I don't think Herr Mueller will sell directly and will likely refer you to Timber Tools if he is still following the distributor setup.
I have one of the stones Kees sells and am quite pleased with it, why not but from a known source AND one of us.

Thanked: 3164They won't sell to the public - I emailed them and asked. They refer you to one of their distributors. The one they referred me to would only accept inter-bank transactions, an expensive option in the UK (even though we are supposed to be in the EU), so I didn't take it any further.
Regards,
Neil

I have dealt with Timber Tools and found the owner VERY helpful. I probably talked to him over an hour on the subject and he certainly has his beliefs which may be true depending on the individual stone. I bought a coticule from him and a Thuringian stone. I am very happy with both. I mentioned the zowada site and emailed it to him. Just for the record, he really did not want to sell me the Thuringian, as he stuck to his guns that the coticule produces a serrated (bevel, edge?) that the Thuringian will eliminate. You can see this on the Zowada site as well. It would be interesting to see zowada take pics of a coticule and then pics of it after an "esher" His claim is that the edge alone is not all in a good cutting experience. There is a demand for the stones and this world is growing very fast! Lotta good people here (tony miller your strop is amazing!) I found him to be a very good guy, he did not hustle me on the Thuringian. I wanted something that I know will be in short supply in the near future.

I've also heard that he is a good guy. Blaireau dealt with him and being a HADdict talked with him quite a bit. Blaireau knows Eschers and Thuringans as few do. He has seen a lot of them. My problem with what the man says is that it goes against the hands on experience of myself and others. Some of those others have honed too many razors to count. I refer to his contention that there is no point in going to a Thuringan after a coticule. Also his assigning definite grit ratings to the stones. Anyway, glad to hear that you like the stones and that you had a good experience with Timbertools.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Thanked: 2204I agree with JimmyHad. Assigning a specific grit rating is not realistic.
Those stones, Escher/Thuringen/German Water Stone, vary quite a bit.
I have also found the using a German stone after a coticule can be an interesting experience. It will really depend on the Coticule, German stone, the steel in the razor and what your face likes.
It is unfortunate that no firm answer can be given. This is one of those cases where a guy simply has to try it for himself.
