Thanked: 13246Just did a side by side with the Greenish WHIG and the Purple WHIG
Razors: Begall full hollow
W&B Special full hollow
Start: These two razors were from the JaNorton thread and were honed on the Norton 4/8 and tested back then, they have not been honed stropped or shaved since that
Standard Test:
I took both razors to the stones with light slurry and 20 Pigtails laps then diluting them out to water every 5 laps, about 40 laps to clear, then more clear water laps about 25 each..
I feel that the Greenish one might be a slightly smoother stone, BTW both were lapped with a DMT 325 (well worn) but it could just be the feel of the stone, slurry was also from the DMT and 5 figure 8's pretty much like I show in my vids.
: Honestly I think all Natural Grit ratings are just dumb, and the fact that in the last 3 years with all the Marketing hype they all just keep getting higher really makes them outlandish..
I did a two razor full shave not half and half, I pretty much switched razors with each stroke on the face, used a Semogue 1305 Boar Brush and Boots shave soap followed with Pinaud Clubman AS (my standard test shave)
Honestly I could not tell a difference, they both shaved just fine, a touch of bite with the AS but that is the razors not the stones Sheffields and I do that
I will try one of them on my test razor later on to see how it goes, I have one razor I test every Stone or Hone on it, is the best I can do for testing the hone itself and even that isn't really fair...
So far so goodLast edited by gssixgun; 03-14-2012 at 07:19 PM.

So the green and purple seem pretty much on a par? How are these edges compared to other stones such as Charnleys, Llyn Idwal, Naniwa 12K, C12K, Coticule?
Regards
Nic

Thanked: 993Here's what I've found when I've compared the LM's to my other finishers:
The LM leaves a smooth edge. Truth be told, I find it the most comfortable for my skin, but that may not be the case for others. I've tried it against my Naniwa 12k, Charnley, and a couple of Coticules. The edge in my opinion is the closest to the coticule feeling. It's sharp, but smooth is a more apt definition. Compared to the Naniwa, it not as "crisp". I find the Naniwa 12k a very good combination between sharp and smooth. LM compared to Charnley Forest, same thing....the Charnely is a crisp crisp edge IMO, and the LM is much smoother.
Again, I find it feels very similar to a coticule edge.

Thanked: 51I tried to word a response without making it sound like I was bashing anyone, but it wasn't easy so I decided to just say this. I'd be more than happy to let Sham try out my stones since I think mine are a lot better than the ones he's tried......... if I didn't like mine so much and didn't want to do without them.

Thanked: 48I have used my stones on about 20 razors in my collection so far and not one has given anything less then a stellar shave. So smooth infact it almost feels like the razors are dull but the hair just falls off and leaves smooth skin behind. I have sold all my nortons and nanis, bought a translucent ark and am now all natural baby!
