Snipping seems to help as well.

Thanked: 169Not so much when you have some fake who puts up say a 125 bid when a blade is at 70 because the seller wants 130 and a person who snipes tends to snipe with a hard bid because you only have one chance to brute force it. If a real auction house was discovered to have their own ppl in the crowd throwing bids all hell would break loose

Thanked: 174Yes, but if you snipe with the price you are willing to pay, then you will not overpay in any case. You could have pay less with no scam on the side, but you do pay what you were intended to pay.

Thanked: 174Indeed it does not. It's just your way to protect yourself as much as possible - besides banning this particular seller.

Thanked: 169There are a few sellers and buyers for that matter who need time outs or outright suspensions on there atm... What stinks is they kill the marketplace for others slowly but surely who are just trying to move things. Sellers have no confidence buyers won't try chargeback stunts and buyers have no confidence sellers aren't shilling... And nobody has any confidence in ebay's willingness to enforce their rules.

Snipping on these auctions can get pretty funny. I was watching the russian jnat one and in the last 30 seconds the price was jumping and dropping as shill bidders were being cancelled. So yes the only way for this to work with snipping is you stick to your original snipe even if the price goes high with the expectation that once the fake ones get cancelled the price will drop just before the end of the auction.
On the other hand I have not bid on his auctions again even though I hear that the stones he sells are pretty good.

Thanked: 169It's why I do bin obo these days unless they are total resto candidates, they know I am not shilling and I can screen buyers a bit. Between that and the bid restriction settings, it is my way of imposing sanity in the chaos. And the blocked bidder list.. Mine is starting to look like a war memorial, sadly...
