Just for info,, I am not involved with the controversy but I can maybe explain some things

There is another type of SR collector out there on E-bay, they don't really hang out on the SR forums because we are all about shaving... They are not!!

They are Celluloid Collectors and those rare Figural Scales are very valuable to them

This is why when you will occasionally see a crappy blade sell for HUGE $$$$ look at the scales they are usually a Figural Celluloid set

I learned this from a customer I have had for a few years, he would send me Beautiful scales with crappy steel and wanted them CAREFULLY replaced with slightly better blades..
He never wants a honing or any steel polishing he is only about the scales, his only demand is BE CAREFULL with the scales

So keep in mind that we are simply a part of the SR community as Shavers there is a bigger world out there

    Hope that helps

Just to back up what Glen said, I've seen the same phenomenon. Celluloid scale collectors are avid enthusiasts. They even have a book by Robert A Doyle dedicated to the subject with tons of photos ........ unlike Doyles' book on Straight Razor Collecting, he shows the scales ........ and not the blades !

Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Kind of similar to investing in slow melting ice cubes?

Well guys, I will say this. I posted on it & I am never afraid to admit when I'm wrong & I was wrong. I also wrote pm's to the other guys that posted & asked them to remove their posts like I did mine.
It also opens up a whole new world which I didn't know about. I do have Robert A. Doyle's book on Straight Razor Collecting but I never knew there was one about celluloid scales & collectors of those as well so like I have said many times before, I learn something new everyday. I apologize for it & now I feel terrible about it. If I get banned, I'll understand but I have already thought a few days ago what my New Years resolution is going to be & I will start off early so you will not see such bs in the future from me if I'm still here!

Dude I missed whatever you did, but it couldn't have been that bad. You're sounding like you did some serious stuff the way you're begging for forgiveness. If they were going to ban you don't you think they would have done it by now. Cheer up... it's almost Christmas

I know but I did something I shouldn't have plus I did learn something thanks to Glens post. I never thought there were people out there that collect celluloid scales. The main thing I'm getting at is that I am man enough to admit when I am wrong. It's now over & done with. Things are going to be different in the future. I won't be eating shoe leather anymore. It doesn't taste so good.................

There are several razors in my watch list that have crap for razors, but I really like the scales, I know Tom buys razors for their scales as well. So these guys may not be that far off. They are only interested in half the razor. I only wish that they were not so darn competitive. There have been quite a lot that sold for more than I would pay for the scales. Maybe I'm just a cheap skate.

I've bought some just for the scales because the blades would be trashed but the price has to be right.
