This is what eBay says on the dispute message.
"You declined the partial refund of US $60.00.We have let the seller know so they can offer another solution or you can ask us to step in and help. If you and your seller need more time to work things out - your request will stay open until Dec 31, 2015."

Here is the message from the seller:
"Hi Willis, In looking at my purchase price and all ..... I can do the $60.00 refund or you may send the entire razor back and I will try to figure a way to sell. I will contact the underbidders (there were several) and maybe they would consider a purchase. Again, my apology for not knowing the fine ins and out of antique razors. To me it looks as perfect as one could ever be. Thanks"

So now what? Wait for eBay to message me or the seller to issue a call tag or instructions?
Go to ebay and look for the 'contact us' link. In the USA they will bring up a page where you choose the reasons, or paste in the item #. They will give you a 6 digit code and the phone #. Get a rep and explain that you'd like to have the shipping paid both ways.

Notice the seller with that stuff about 'not knowing the fine ins and outs of antique razors.' They don't want a negative feedback so you have the leverage. Anyway, ebay will tell you whether they can force the seller to refund shipping. I'm not sure one way or the other.

Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

I just looked at the original listing. The crack is visible in the photos, and should have been spotted before ever bidding.
Also states clearly that "Buyer Pays Return Shipping"

    1) You MUST return the item before you can get your money back. If you don't, your claim is invalidated
    2) consider to return it via a signed for service
    My reasoning is as follows....
If this guy IS a shyster, he may claim he never received the item back or that you shipped him an empty box. (I have packed items in front of my local postal employee when I have worried about things like this)
I would never have bid on this razor past the value of scales. I suspect that he knew all along.
I know you don't want to eat the shipping, and I sort of agree with you, but it may just be the simplest solution and a lesson learned.

    Thanks guys!

I was planning on sending back on Monday. I'll give eBay a ring and see what they say too. I think the seller is playing "dumb" and most likely not the first time too.
I'll be using a tracked return method and request signature required.

Another question then..... So what if this person doesn't refund my money? What happens?
Is it over there or over yonder?

Just 2 new messages from eBay:

    1. the seller accepted a return for Antique H. Boker BARBER STRAIGHT RAZOR embossed LADY HEAD & IVY tree mark & BOX. You should receive a return shipping label by Nov 20, 2015. Just print the label and send the item back to the seller.

Don't receive a label by then? You can ask us to step in and help.

    2. the seller let us know that they can't buy a return shipping label for you to use for Antique H. Boker BARBER STRAIGHT RAZOR embossed LADY HEAD & IVY tree mark & BOX.

The seller is still responsible for return shipping costs, so contact them to arrange return shipping.

Heh, what will probably happen, is you will pay for the shipping, and buyer will refund it after he receives the razor. But he will only want to (and probably only be obligated to) refund the same amount that HE charged when he shipped the razor to you. To be REALLY sure he got the razor back you could ship it via FedEx Overnight with adult signature required at a cost of 40 bucks. Doesn't mean he will have to pay that much back to you! =P

This is not true. I sold something on eBay with "no returns" and they broke it two weeks later, opened a case, and eBay made me pay the freight to get it back. It was that or they would charge me back and let the buyer keep it.

    YIKES !!!

I guess has the buyer's best interest in mind.

    Hate that happened to you.

Shipping from Canada with signature required is way expensive! $50+ and that is using Canada Post.
I'll most likely send it through work via Purolator and then UPS delivers it in the US.

They do have the buyers best interest in mind and will make him pay the shipping if he wants it back.
