It seemed to me that prices were inflated all through the holiday season. I figured that people would be off doing stuff, but it seems many found the time to get bids in. I think those razors caught the tail end of it. I hope so, if not that means the only way I'll ever own a filly is if I find one cheap in an antique shop.

I really like the two #13s I own. And unlike the new ones Classic carried, both mine honed up very easy.

That said, there are lots of lesser known (or not talked up as much) vintage Solingen full hollow razors that are just as fine and can be had for $60 or less.

There are some brands that get talked up, like the Ducks, to be super razors and command premium prices. While Ducks are great shavers, I personally don't think they are any better than an original Bismarck, Fritz Bracht era Dovo, ERN (insert your favorite lesser known Soligen maker).....

The Fillies at Classic Shaving -- with all respect -- do not appear to be the same blade as these NOS Filly #13s being sold on eBay. Most of the ones on eBay appear to have the gold wash on the blades and have the Filly mark and #13 stamped on the tang. The Classic Shaving ones don't have any tang stamp and just have the word "Filarmonica" etched on the blade. Not sure whether that makes them more or less worthy than the blades on eBay, but I know that many have commented on the differences.

All that being said, I agree with you that the Filly blades are equal to quite a few other, less well known razors. Prices for Fillies, however, continue to rise . . .

Korndog, that #14 is a knock-out!! Love the white scales on a Filly too -- very classy.

Also just saw another NOS #13 bid up as high as $272, and the auction isn't even over yet!! What the heck -- I should have sold my 401k and put it all into Fillies!

Anyway, since so many of you have many more miles here than me, I thought I'd ask a question too -- many of the #14s I see are "EPBD", but some are not. So what exactly is the difference in the EPBD razors? Different grind? Different steel? Just marketing? Thanks!

How much should one honestly pay for a good Filly?

As much as you personally are comfortable with. Seems like a roundabout answer, but that's the only real answer you can get.

These white scales are the best looking Filly scales there are, IMHO.
