No, it's just that shipping times from Karachi are unpredictable these days.
....KIDDING!!!
Actually, I've been following this thread with interest. If anybody can put a shaving edge on one of these big boys, I'm betting holli4 can. If not, I'm steering clear of them.

Thanked: 1936Odd indeed, makes you wonder... Being the skeptic that I am, I have a funny feeling here. I've been lurking on this thread a bit & have a hard time fighting off that skepticism...

I'm wondering if one of us (SRP members) bought that last one that went for $100 + ? I have no doubt that the buzz on the forum stimulated the auction since he hadn't been getting that kind of money in the past. Waiting for the 'lucky' winner to review the razor.

Thanked: 480I think the answer is fairly plain to see. Did, or did he NOT state, that he was going to increase the hardness on the next razors?
He is not going to send you what he KNOWS wont sharpen well. But since he is in all likelihood assembling blades that are forged elsewhere, he has to wait for who ever is actually creating the steel to rotate through the older stock and send out the higher hardness blades. just my own 2cent

If the fellow really does forge the blades himself he could make a heck of a buck if he has the knowledge and the talent. He would also need the desire. Without the desire the knowledge and talent won't do any good. That is ..... if he really does forge the blades himself as he told me he does.

I still don't get why there isn't a makers mark on them if he makes them himself. He can forge-weld steel, grind blades, and make bone scales but doesn't have a die to stamp or a stencil to etch with? Besides which, total absence of a maker's mark seems to be a growing hallmark of the Pakistani razor market...

Good point. When I began collecting pocket knives back in the '70s one of the first things I learned was that if a maker didn't think enough of his blade to put his name on it then it probably wasn't worth having. I guess I am naive ... I couldn't imagine telling a lie to someone if they flat out asked me if I made the razor. Makes it hard for me to accept that he would lie to me but I'm old enough that I ought to know better.
