    Thumbs up Knock-off's

    Hello all,
I guess I just got duped! But thanks to one of SRP members I have a chance to get my 168.50 back. This is the email he sent: Hi, I'm writing to inform you that you've fallen victim to a horrible scam that is taking over ebay lately ~ The "Rare WWII Henckels Razor" you purchased (item # 180615524358) is not an authentic razor, nor was it manufactured during the WWII era. This razor is one of many being forged today in China, and sold on ebay as authentic razors. There is an active thread at straight razor place that speaks of this seller's razors, and how they are not authentic. You should be able to at least get your purchase price back if you act quickly. Authentic J.A.Henckels razors have Twins on the handles & tang, and never was a single figure used as their trademark. Henckels also never used hot stamps to mark their scales such as this razor is, they used either ink to stamp their trademark, or they used silver inlays. The blade you purchased are being mass produced daily, and I have received numerous offers to buy these razors in bulk. Sorry to bring bad news, but feel it only right to inform you. Thank You again

I don't know who is that person and i hope you will never tell anyone his name.
by ebay rules he could loose his account.
it has been done to me before. it was Pakistani blade and actually seller was using shilling bids.
i send email one of the bidder worn him and it was sellers another name.
Bingo next i got email from ebay that such activity is not acceptable although i was right. he was selling fake blades.
    anyway you are lucky.
    Enjoy.

Funny that he could send you an email about it when eBay has blocked all bidder information for the last two years. Must be a real clever fellow.

If the OP left feedback, his or her ebay name would show up on the feedback page; from there another ebay user could use the contact form to send the OP an email

Something fishy about all of that.

No one here has ever documented a counterfeit razor that I am aware of.

The razor was squirrelly as heck. Glad it worked out for you.

(edit: pz93c already put up the link)

I don't see anything in the thread that could lead someone to definitively say everything that was said in that email. I read through the entire thing twice, and I still can not say for certain whether they are fakes or where they were produced. There is a lot of speculation in that thread, but no definitive evidence.
I do agree that it looks awful suspicious, especially given the number of razors that this seller has, but I could not call them Chinese made fakes, let alone say it with enough confidence to email someone and tell them to demand a refund on the razor they just bought.

If someone has received numerous offers to buy them in bulk, it would be nice if they would post a source for them.

Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government.

Interesting! Lots of big time razor buyers and sellers here! Anyone else had numerous offers to buy these in bulk? This has a familiar ring.

    I rest my case.

    Guys,
from reading the OP it sounds to me like the email was from one of us SRP members, possibly in reply to that linked thread? Anyways, I cannot see it was said that it was the seller that emailed him.

Looking at the photos of those razors they look professionally done to me. Whatever their vintage, be they WWII or recently found blanks, such as the Fillys and Wackers seen in the past few years.

It doesn't make sense to me that a company would put out a counterfeit of that quality with various tang stamps, scales with metal logos, labeled boxes, and from some relatively obscure makers, such as Globusmen and Breidhor. If I had the wherewithal to counterfeit razors I would be punching out Wonderedges, Reapers, and Fillys.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
