How did this SRP member know that it was you who bought the razor?

I don't mean to hijack this thread but I was wondering about the overall legitimacy of "NOS" razors. I have been casually browsing the bay and there are many different models of NOS razors. As I browse the feedback from various sellers, it seems that certain sellers have an endless supply of these NOS razors be they Filarmonicas, Henckels, dorkos, etc.
I understand that ebay is wysiwyg but are there sellers that have been reliable in there claims of NOS. I would hate to get burned if there was any thread here at srp that I have overlooked.
Thanks,
rob

NOS has become marketing term, and 'shave-ready' too. The meaning depends entirely on the person using it.
I personally don't consider a restored razor NOS, or a polished one. I prefer the word 'shiny' to describe this exact quality.
The only thing I'm comfortable calling NOS is new razor in its sealed package. I've had only few of these, and once I've used them they certainly cease to be 'New'.
So, I think that's it, you have to look at the person who makes the claim, and it's probably good idea to ask them what do they mean by it and can they back up any such claims.

Thanked: 2Update
Ebay said I will have a full refund in 48hrs! As far as who sent me the email, I don't feel it's right to give that info without their say so!
However this person will be getting more of my business,You can't go wrong with honest people.

But there is nothing to suggest that the person who email you is honest, at all, as they had to risk nothing to tell you not to do business with another individual, and everything to gain by it... as you have so pointedly made clear. That puts pretty heavy motive to be dishonest on their end.

Agreed. This one was super easy to figure out from the start as well as who the players are. No wonder the seller who sent the message shall remain anonymous. Using Ebay's feedback and messaging to deliver messages of heresay to reverse a sale and steer business home? Much less to use this forum to further spread the "good news" to the membership and discredit a seller directly. I would think this is against all Ebay AND SRP rules and spirit? It seems Ebay is getting downright "cut throat" for some sellers. Thank goodness there are sellers out there who respect the business of others. I wonder if some were not taught to say something nice, or not at all. Some sellers must make others look bad in order to make themselves look better! I suppose it worked, though. Shady!

I rest my case.

I have also bought one of these and started a thread to try and alert SRP members. I returned the razor and got a refund. With the greatest respect to all those contributing to this thread who may think otherwise - THIS RAZOR IS A FAKE!!!! I have had this confirmed by some of the most experienced, reputable restorers and dealers and especially people who know Henckels. Wake up everyone! Fakes exist for almost all products. You can make a nice sideline knocking off razors in China for USD 10 and selling 2 or 3 a month on Ebay for USD 200 each. Some of you may misunderstand the motive of the person alerting the buyer. Most honest sellers would alert such a buyer. They want to keep the market clean. Fake razors floating around damages the reputation of the razor market and does not help reputable sellers in any way.

Thanked: 1371For my part in this thread, all I've asked is where is the evidence? I still have not gotten an answer beyond secondhand information that a few nameless experts say they are fake, and the fact that it has a suspicious tang stamp. I have not seen anything presented that, to me, is compelling enough that I would send the email that the OP received, or risk tarnishing someones reputation over it.
Also, if it's possible to buy them for $10, where can I get one? I'd like to try shaving with one.
Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government.

May I suggest that you refer to this thread:
http://straightrazorpalace.com/razor...real-fake.html
There are comments on this ' yet again another WW2 ' razor from senior SRP members - which goes down to detail, including the authenticity of the pins. These are real, not faceless or anonymous, experienced members expressing an opinion.

I'd refer to Manah's post in the other thread. He said that Henckels does have an international company that is manufactured in china or Taiwan. He seems to know more about each particular company than anyone else I have encountered. I'd take his word for it...
