Thread: eBay just dropped my auction due to ivory scales

there was a very sad story in the NYTimes this past week about the accelerating demise of African elephants driven by worldwide desire for ivory, with a large percentage of that poached ivory headed for China, claimed to be as much as 70% of it.
it's tough to think about this...the people who inhabit the land where the elephants live, and who could be shepherding and conserving them are killing them wholesale and selling the ivory to people in another country with a long pedigree of "civilization" and who should really know better.
the elephant meat is going to waste, so this is not a case of them being killed for bush meat. it's all about greed and vanity. a curse on all involved.
