Thread: Do You Shave Everyday With A Straight

I grow a slow beard so I only have to shave every other day. I recently counted up all my straights and decided to sharpen each one and shave with it. To date I am 30 days with only using my straights with about five more shaves to go before I have to rotate. I have also been doing the same thing with my soaps, and have made a chart that tells me what soap I used with what razor. tonight is my Dovo and Tabbac. but it will be hard pressed to beat the last with Arco and my Wade and Butcher.

Well this is a gentlemen's forum. A shaving one at that. Sooner or later someone had to say it.

Every other day; DE if I have to get up early and drive to the city, or if I'm travelling - I don't want to have arguments with airport security types

Don't get me wrong, I like my DEs; the Merkur and Gilette are great razors when teamed with the right blade (Astra for me) but nothing beats the feeling of getting a good close shave from a blade you've restored and honed yourself.

A straight razor every day for me. 3 passes if I'm in a hurry which takes about 10 minutes. Sometimes I wake up at 3 am and feel for stubble worried that I won't have nothing to shave when I get up but it's there and I get to shave another day.

I find I am an "every other day-er". It's not so much that I couldn't shave daily, but even when I was using disposables I got into a routine of shaving on M, W, F, so I've just stuck with that.

After having to shave every day for years in the military, I don't mind skipping a day.

I can usually get a close enough shave to last 2 days, and I use a straight mostly, but if I'm in a hurry or just want a change, I'll use a DE.

I shave 365 days a year, I cannot stand the feeling of having stubble on my face, particularly in my neck. I use straights maybe 6 times a week and a DE once per week.

I shave everyday. I might skip either the face or my head every now and then, but most days I do shave both
