Yep...little guy's just a week old (10 days today). If I hadn't gotten a rebate check back those purchases would have been diapers instead of razor goods! I'm making the best use of him as I can though...see here: http://straightrazorpalace.com/conte...-public-5.html (page five). I figured the odds of there being another crazy opportunity for me to lather in public were pretty slim, and since he would be absorbing pretty much any razor money in the future maybe he could help me get him a razor.
My wife's great btw. Love her to death, and she's into scales too. "All those black and white razors are boring. You should find ones that look cool too." And I'm all for that of course...but all is subsequent (as it should be) to buying diapers, feeding kids, and even feeding ourselves! If we just didn't have to eat, or pay bills we could have a lot more fun.Last edited by BigJim; 04-26-2011 at 05:12 PM. Reason: Extra quote showed up.

I'm lucky enough to have a wife with a rather expensive taste in shoes and handbags.
For every Louis Vuitton bag or Loboutin shoe that enters this house, I can buy a lifetime's supply of shaving gear!
My biggest problem with the Mrs. is the alteration to the bathroom, as all my gear needs a place of its own.
Strops apparently doesn't look as good to her as they do to meBjoernar
Um, all of them, any of them that have been in front of me over all these years....

I would not say my wife is mean either. it is a matter of priorities. The shaving gear I want V.S. New Reebook Goalie equipment for youngest daughter, new roof for House, Remodel of Bathroom, Hockey registration and REP fees...... that and a lack of understanding why 2 razors are not enough, I can only use 1 at a time....
The list can be pretty long and I have tried to get my wife addicted to something so that I can justify my expenses but she just does not bite. She is just a little to practical for my own good.

Yeah, I don't know what to tell you guys on this one. Except maybe explain from the start that you're prone to being drawn to expensive hobbies. I've had some odd hobbies in the past, and not all of them have stuck with me. Straight shaving will be around for a while with me. As will hunting / shooting / reloading. They're all REAL expensive hobbies, especially since I'm prone to acquisition disorders (right now fighting a serious case of Rifle Acquisition Disorder...I need a safe before I add to the arsenal though). When I find the next girl, she'll know from the beginning that I'm prone to rash purchases for "large" sums of money to support my hobbies.

Update: I got a gorgeous Boker I believe has NEVER been used in the mail today. I was excited, but when my wife saw the condition of the box, the original instruction sheet and the incredible (though imperfect) condition of the razor she was pretty excited too! One thing that works for me is she's a history buff, so vintage razors can work for her too.
I'll be posting pics tonight.
